Fighting hunger has never been easier
The 2021 Big Blue Food Drive is on Saturday, September 25.
The Big Blue makes donating to our food bank as easy as it gets! Just place your nonperishable donations in any box or bag at your curb by 10am on September 25. Our volunteers - identified by SVP magnets on their car doors - will come by to collect the donations.
We are currently seeking volunteers to help with this year's event!
We need help with three tasks for the Big Blue Food Drive:
Our driver/runner pairs are assigned a pre-determined route to collect the curbside donations. These volunteers should arrive at St. Vincent Place by no later than 9:45 am the day of the event, and, depending on the route, should be done within a couple hours.
Our sorters help to sort the donations once they arrive here at St. Vincent Place. These volunteers generally start around 11:00 am once the donations start to arrive. They can commit to the full day of sorting (usually until about 3pm) or stick around for a set amount of time.
To ensure that the community knows about the event and remembers to put out their donations, we like to have volunteers drop flyers in mailboxes in the week leading up to the event (so starting on September 19). This is a great way for high school students to earn volunteer hours!
If you can help with the event, please get in touch with Sara as soon as possible. You can call 705-253-2770 ext. 4 or email email@example.com.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, last year's event brought in $53,875 worth of donations for our food bank!
Thank you to all the donors and volunteers who helped make this year's Big Blue Box Food Drive a success.
