One in five children are at risk of going to school hungry. When kids are hungry at school, it can have very real, negative consequences: kids who are hungry at school are more likely to have lower grades, have to repeat years, and struggle with developmental impairments. Additionally, when students have a small (or no) lunch at school, they might be embarrassed and impacted socially.
That's why we've launched the Lunches for Learning program at St. Vincent Place. Each weekly package contains enough school-safe lunch foods for the children's week, such as deli meat, tuna, fresh fruit and vegetables, sandwich bread, cheese strings, and yogurt tubes. We aim to keep packages nutritious and also customizable so that families receive only what they'll actually use.
If you'd like to support the program, you can make a donation below. Click on "Donate Monthly" to help ensure the long-term viability of the program. If you're a business that would like to sponsor Lunches for Learning, reach out to Sara at sara@vincentplacessm.ca or 705-253-2770 ext. 202.

REGISTRATION
SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Teachers and principals will provide families in need with the program application form. If you have children in more than one school, you only need to complete one application. We recommend applying through your youngest child's school. Once completed and returned to the schools, we will collect the applications and contact the families. If you complete an application, be sure to check your email frequently for an update as we do not contact by phone unless you don't have internet access. All communication for the program is completed via email. Applications will be available throughout the school year through your child's school.
DIRECT REGISTRATION
To apply directly through St. Vincent Place, ask for an application while you're visiting the food bank or email Sara at lunchesforlearning@vincentplacessm.ca. Please note that we may contact your child's school to confirm your child's attendance if you apply directly to us (with your permission, per application form).
We expect to receive more applications than we have spots in the program, so as in past years we will maintain a waitlist.
