We know that sometimes people could use help from the food bank but are hesitant to access it because they just don’t know what to expect. That’s why we’ve put together a step-by-step guide explaining what to do. You may be surprised how simple the process really is.
- Drop in when the food bank is open. No need to make an appointment or call ahead. Just come to our front doors during our food bank hours: Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
- Have your ID ready. We need to see ID for yourself and anyone else in the household. No need for everyone to come – just be sure to have their ID.
- Complete an intake with a volunteer. If you’ve never been to our food bank before, you’ll have to complete what we call an intake. The volunteer will ask you some questions – things like your address, date of birth, and source of income. We don’t ask invasive questions like how much you make – we just need to know your source of income for our stats. We don’t judge whether or not your need is great enough to access the food bank. If you come to us, we trust that you need it.
- Pick up your package. Once your intake is complete, the volunteer will send you to another table to pick up your package. Here you can go through what we offer and leave anything you wouldn’t use. You’ll also have the option to accept some extras based on what we have available.
- That’s it!
As you can see, the process is quite simple and non-invasive. Our volunteers are amazing, kind people who genuinely just want to help. That’s why we’re here!
